BEAUTY, SELF CARE, LIFESTYLE

My relationship with my hair used to be…complicated. I wasn’t always given the perspective that it was beautiful in its natural state. It's kinky, but not curly, it's textured, and not slick—it’s my crown and she and I have journeyed over 10 years together learning how to love each other, and even heal each other.

It all started 11 years ago when I lost my father and my hair began to fall out. Natural hair care was even less accepted back then and representation was scarce, but I managed to find hair forums that quickly became my go-to and inspired me to begin my hair journey.

nice to meet you!

Hey Girl, My name is Jenn

Xo, Jenn

I remember getting weird looks from my family as I started to take pride in my coils. It was more common to have pressed locks than dreadlocks and it was too easy to feel like the odd one out on many occasions. This was the biggest signal that self-care and self-love was what I needed the most during that time.

Unintentionally, focusing on those two things helped strengthen my mindset and self-development. Each day I made a choice to choose me regardless of what others thought of me. Deep down, I knew my wisdom was meant to be shared with as many people as possible, and since turning on my webcam I haven’t had one single regret.

Through training, growing, testing, and styling my hair I discovered that loving and accepting your hair means loving all of you - body, mind and soul. There is this quote that really resonated with me: "To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself".

It’s my mission to make that statement come to life for the audience of women I serve, showing them that through intentional living and harnessing their mindset, they can achieve what they didn’t know they could and make an impact on those around them.
